Source priority

Model-specific owner manuals and manufacturer support materials take priority. We also consult appliance installation instructions, detergent and cleaner labels, water-utility hardness information, and established household-safety guidance. A general article cannot override instructions for a particular model.

How a guide is structured

1. Define the symptom in terms a reader can observe.
2. Separate normal behavior from a likely problem.
3. Start with settings, loading, removable filters, visible hoses, and other owner-maintenance checks.
4. Explain what each clue changes about the next step.
5. Stop before electrical testing, concealed plumbing, refrigerant, pump teardown, or service-panel removal.
6. Link readers to the closest follow-up guide rather than repeating generic advice.

Interactive tool standards

Our tools use rules that are visible in the result explanation. They do not claim to measure a component, identify a failed part, or replace an in-person diagnosis. Inputs stay in the browser unless a tool explicitly says otherwise. Cost tools show assumptions and treat safety signals separately from price.

Evidence and attribution standards

Factual maintenance claims should be traceable to a visible source section, preferably an official owner manual, installation instruction, manufacturer support page, government programme, or product label. We do not present anonymous technician anecdotes, invented service-call percentages, or unsupported “most common” rankings as evidence.

Automation and AI assistance

Automated tools, including AI-assisted drafting or editing, may help organize research, identify inconsistencies, test interactive logic, or prepare revisions. They are not treated as sources or credentialed reviewers. The site owner remains responsible for publication decisions, source checks, safety boundaries, corrections, and removal of unsupported claims.

Corrections and updates

Pages are revised when a safety boundary is unclear, a link breaks, model guidance changes, or reader feedback reveals an ambiguous step. A substantive change updates the visible review date and the site feed; unsupported or unsafe guidance is corrected rather than silently preserved.
