What the common cycle names usually mean
Auto or Sensor
Measures soil-related conditions and adjusts some combination of time, water, or energy. Useful for a genuinely mixed load.
Heavy or Pots & Pans
Longer or more vigorous washing for dishwasher-safe cookware and dried-on, baked-on, or greasy soil.
Quick or 1-Hour
Fast turnaround for lightly soiled essentials. It may use more water, heat, or energy to save time.
Delicate, China, or Crystal
Gentler action or lower heat for items explicitly approved for machine washing. Item-care instructions still control.
Rinse Only
A short rinse to reduce dried-on food or odor before a later full cycle. It does not replace washing.

Cycle labels are not standardized across every brand. Some buttons are options rather than complete cycles, and the same name may include different temperatures or drying behavior. Read the cycle table for your exact model before relying on heat-sensitive, delicate, or sanitizing settings.
Set up the load before choosing
Clear the filter, make sure each spray arm can turn, avoid nesting bowls, keep the detergent dispenser unobstructed, and scrape large debris. A stronger program cannot fully compensate for blocked water paths or an overloaded rack.

- Does the selector tell me the exact button to press? No. Cycle names, temperatures, sensor behavior, and option combinations vary by model. The result identifies a cycle family and the tradeoffs to compare; use the control-panel guide and cycle table in the exact owner manual for the final selection.
- What if an eco cycle leaves dishes wet? That can reflect the model’s drying design, the selected options, loading, rinse aid, or a fault. Compare the manual’s description of the cycle and drying system before switching settings or assuming the heater has failed.
- Can I use the recommendation for delicate glassware? Only after checking that the glassware and dishwasher instructions permit machine washing. Delicate, decorated, antique, hand-painted, or temperature-sensitive items may need a different cycle or may not belong in a dishwasher at all.
